Well, here's the invention for the character.

Design is based on actual Block 1A/B Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapons System) Anti-Anti-Ship Missile System. The only major difference between that and this drawing is that it's used as Anti-Spitball System. It's loaded with 900 rounds of Nerf darts firing at 3,000 darts per minute (Ignore the one on the image. I don't know what the hell I was thinking).
To sum it up, it's just a huge weapon made for tiny projectiles launched from plastic drinking straw. Fahn got sick of getting pelted with spitballs and decided to create an effective countermeasures against such shenanigans. So he purchased a bunch of Nerf products and created a basic M61 Vulcan Gatling gun replica. How he managed to acquire FLIR or materials necessary to build the entire platform from scratch is beyond anyone's guess.
The machine works find in unleasing devastating fury of Nerf darts on its target. The only problem is that by the time it starts firing the spitball's already reached its target. It also makes no distinction between similar-sized objects such as a fly. The nerf darts are also somewhat inaccurate when firing.
